My story
I just want to tell you thank you, for supporting me on this wonderful journey of mine. For the people who don’t know me. I am Ishan Mudgal, I am the founder, editor and designer of this blog. I created this blog to help me stay motivated to workout daily. I really like to exercise and run but during COVID-19 lockdown things took an unexpected turn. I really wanted to exercise but I lacked the shear will and motivation to achieve it. I also stopped progressing and was very busy with my school work. Slowly things started to tangle up, I was getting very less sleep and it was also hindering my performance while exercising. So, I used to go to YouTube to search for inspiring videos to help me get back to exercising. I worked for a while but completely stopped in only a few days, so I had no other option than to create one myself.
I had already tried blogging once but failed miserably but this time I was sure. I was sure that I will achieve something, I would create a platform that would provide me just enough motivation to get ready but the rest I had to actively push myself so that I develop a positive attitude and also great will power.
That night I couldn’t sleep, I hopped on my computer and opened Blogger. I couldn’t think of any fancy name at that time. I thought for a while, but in the end, went with the very first thought that came to mind, that was Daily Workout Motivation. In my head it was a very big name, I was sure that nobody would be able to remember it, but it was a name that was very obvious. It was the terms that I searched whenever I wanted to feel motivated. I kept on that name and guess what, it is still the same today. Even after a year, I haven’t changed even once. I like this name not because it was very easy but because it was an inspiration in itself. Whenever I typed it, I had to think twice, I had to ask myself, was I so weak that I needed external stimulus to push myself. And let me clear it I checked it even when I was fully motivated, and who wouldn’t because it was a massive project that I was making all by myself. It was June 3 2020 that the blog got its first post. And by June 10 I had already scheduled all the posts till august.
I had very low expectations from the blog’s content
because I didn’t have time. I used to take all the images from google and embed
them into the blog. This was also the reason I never even applied for AdSense.
I also took lots of transformation videos from YouTube and every Sunday used to
upload them into the blog. I still remember that the first few months I had
over 40 posts in a month, I could have never thought of those if I were to
write articles as blog posts. I later removed the videos as they made the site extremely slow and outdated.
Many people
ask me why I didn’t use Instagram or Facebook as they were more inclined
towards image only content and moreover blogging was dying in the image niche.
Blogspot was becoming old, the worn-out interface was bad to navigate, there
were millions of unseen sites that were present, and still going for a service
that google might shut down anytime. But let me clear it, the biggest reason I
used blogger was because it was the only service that provided free domain name
and fast hosting. There was wordpress.com but it has little to no feature if
compared to wordpress.org. One thing I can say that anything that is free is
not good but if the free service is used to the fullest, we can create very
appealing sites and products. But the main reason I created a website was the level of customization it provides. Everything from fonts to layout can be changed, they don't require any 3rd party applications and everybody knows how to find them. They also rank higher in the search engine. This reason was enough for me to use Blogger as a platform. I feel that I am a very old school person even though I am very young, no even an adult. I don't like using my phone, I am also not on Facebook or any other social media platform. I find them as distractions. I like technology but I love nature more. I wouldn't say no if someone offered me a hike in the woods. This also may be the reason I didn't switch to more image-oriented platforms.
I consider this project to be the greatest one I have ever done. It’s a project that taught me that if we are consistent then even the biggest task can be completed with ease. I decided to post a quote daily on the website.
The more I
find myself, the more I feel that I look like Novak Djokovic. I feel that I am a good runner. When I run I feel energetic. One quote that can describe me is that By the way, I would
love to meet Michael Phelps, Usain Bolt.
